Video: Male and Female Mosquitoes

Recently, we wrote about the rumor that genetically modified mosquitoes had caused the Zika outbreak. As we outlined, this rumor was false for numerous reasons, though one in particular concerned knowledge of mosquito behavior. The GM mosquitoes released in Brazil were males — but only female mosquitoes can transmit Zika, and other diseases, because only females bite people.

Find out more about the differences between male and female mosquitoes by watching FlackCheck.org’s latest video.
